Hello Aaron Lines Friends!
Aaron Lines had the opportunity to visit South America recently with PLAN CANADA. While there he filmed two specials ... one with CMT Canada set to air this December and the other with Plan Canada set to air in 2009.
In response to his trip and the emails we have received asking about Plan Canada we have created a 'cause' page for Plan - Canada on facebook. Please feel free to check it out and join and or donate if you'd like. We also recommend checking out the "group" on facebook called Plan Canada as well.

Thank you for the support of Aaron and his music!

Hello everyone......once again it's been way too long since my last blog.
I just got back from an amazing trip and I wanted to tell you a little bit about it. I was fortunate enough to start working with an organization called "Plan Canada". I contacted them about 8 months ago and asked if I could be a part of what they were doing. I had researched them and heard a lot of great things about them. Lucky for me....they were interested and on Nov 3-15th I flew to Peru to see with my own eyes the kind of work they were doing.
I filmed 2 TV specials while I was down there. One was for CMT, which will air in December. They brought a crew which included Joel Stewart(Director) and Paul McGuire (Host). Anyone who watches CMT knows these guys and how busy they are...so it was very cool that they made the time to film the 30 minute special. The other special was for Plan Canada and will air in March sometime.
Throughout the 2 weeks I visited villages throughout Peru. Some that Plan Canada had been working with and some that they hadn't yet. It was amazing to see...and a real eye-opening experience. I think it's easy to forget sometimes living in a place like Canada.....that 50% of the people in the world live on less than $2.50 a day. It really put things in perspective for me seeing parents struggling just to feed their children....and walking 2 hours a day to get water for their family....in 40 degree weather. Also...realizing that entire communities still don't have bathrooms...not even outhouses....let alone running water or electricity.
I think deep down I always knew this....but from this day on when I feel like complaining about my life....I will bite my tongue. The blessings that have been bestowed upon me are so much more than I deserve...that these days I feel like I won some sort of life lottery.
I'm really hoping these 2 TV specials will help create more awareness to some of the great things Plan Canada is doing and how much more needs to be done....
I hope you are doing well!!!!!

I know it's been a long time since I last did a blog. The summer got so busy with my tour and family stuff that i just never got around to it. Sorry bout that.....here's what's been going on the last few months.
I've toured across the country from B.C to Nova Scotia. Playing a lot of big festivals but also a good amount of smaller town festivals. I really enjoy playing the smaller towns....for some reason I always feel like I fit in more there. I guess it's cause I'm from a small town.
One show I played was in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia......the hometown of Paul Davis and his father Jim (They are the 2 that I wrote the song "Somebody's Son" about). I played a show dedicated to Military men and woman. What a great time.....I went over to The Davis' house to say hello in the afternoon before the show and had some seafood chowder while getting to know them a little better. Up til then I had only met Jim and his wife Sharon a few times. What great people......I left there feeling like I was part of there family. They are definitely true Maritimers......selfless people that like to have a good time. I left there wishing I could have stayed for another few days.
In Merritt, B.C it snowed the day we played. I still had a great time but it was a little different seeing people wrapped up in blankets trying to keep warm in July. That was my first time playing the festival and I left there blown away by how nice the staff was at that festival. They were first class and I can see why people enjoy playing there so much.
I brought a little girl on stage with me in Barrie, Ontario. Wow was she cute. She had a shirt on that said..."I want to sing with Aaron Lines". Now how can I ignore that? During the show I noticed she was singing every word to every song....so I brought her up to sing "Love Changes Everything" with me and it was a lot of fun. I still get blown away when people come to my shows and know all the words...or make up signs and t-shirts. It really makes me realize how lucky I am to do what I do. Like my brother-in-law always says.....no one stands up and claps when an accountant does a tax return...or paints there face to go to the dentist.
Anyway.....the summer tour is coming to an end but not before i have 3 more shows this weekend. One in Quebec and 2 in Ontario. It's a long weekend so I'm sure the crowds will be in a good mood and I'm really looking forward to getting out on the road again (I've had the last 2 weeks off).
For those of you going to the CCMA's this year unfortunately I won't see you there. I have a show in Mexico City, Mexico the same day as the awards. I always look forward to the CCMA's and all the fun times with the other artists and music business people......guess I'll have to make up for it next year.
See you all soon I hope. Thanks for all your continued support......I wouldn't be doing this without you.

Hey everyone.....just getting some last minute things together before the summer tour starts this weekend in Dauphin, Manitoba. It should be fun......it always is. Getting to travel around from party to party and play music is a pretty cool way to spend a summer I think.
I'm looking forward to getting to play some new songs for everybody and see some familiar faces out their on the road as well. The tour goes from B.C. to Nova Scotia and everywhere in between so if you want to come see the show....it's pretty likely we'll be somewhere in your area throughout the summer.
I will be signing after the shows (at most of the shows...some I have to catch a plane right after to get to the next show) please come say hello if you can.
See you all soon!

Hey everybody....been a busy few days around my house. We finally found the time to paint my little girl's room. Hey...better late than never right?
It's a princess room (I've never seen that much pink in my life). Anyway...she looks really cute in it. The walls are painted half light pink and half one shade darker pink. We switched out the light fixture and put a tiny chandelier up. It looks really great in there.....a lot of princess decorations.
We have her name up on the wall and some sayings on the wall as well...like "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" and "Sweet Dreams". The other colors in the room are purple and green. As you can probably imagine...my wife was the one who picked out the colors.
I also have a frame by the crib with a picture of Lauryn and I .....with the song I wrote for her written across the picture. The song's called "I Haven't Even Heard You Cry" and for those of you who have seen a recent show of mine...you know that I've been singing it live these days. I've had a lot of emails from fans who are expectant mothers who wanted to put the song up in their baby's rooms as well. So there are a bunch of other baby's rooms around the country that have it up as well.
That always makes you feel good as a songwriter when people want to use your song for something that is really special to them. I used to think peoples weddings were the ultimate but I think the baby room might be now. Now that I have Lauryn I realize how important the babys room is to a parent. What a special part of the house it becomes......and how everything in it seems to matter more than any other "thing" in your house.
The only thing that could make the room better to me..... is if she'd actually go to sleep in it for more than a few hours at a time. That'll come I guess.
All the best!

Hey everybody......just thought I'd check in. I've been busy these days writing songs. I'm not planning on having a new CD out for at least another year...but I always like to get a jump start on it. I find if you leave it to the last minute...the songs will end up sounding like you left it to the last minute. It's been fun....I have a few months off now before the summer festival season so I have a little extra time to sit down with my guitar. I find it hard to write while out on tour because my mind ends up being scattered....it's hard for me to focus on songs out there.
Songwriting has always been a very interesting craft for me. Some days it comes very easy and other days I don't come up with anything at all. It really is a love/hate kind of thing for me. I do love writing but it wears on you sometimes when you go a few days without coming up with anything worth recording. These days I come at songs a lot differently. When I was younger I would write just to write. I would make up stories if I had to...just to write a song. These days I only write when I feel inspired. I've written so many songs over the years that it doesn't interest me to write songs that don't connect with me personally. Also...if the idea I have isn't something original (hasn't been said 3 billion times before) I find it not worth writing. Maybe it's because I'm a little older now....but I feel like if something has been said before...there's no reason for me to say it again.
Songs should be a window into your life I think....whenever I hear a song on the radio that doesn't give you any insight into who the singer is as a person...or his/her views...I feel like it is just another song. I'm not saying I've never put songs out like that....but generally i want listeners to know a little more about me after they hear me sing a song. That's why I'm really glad my latest single "Moments That matter" has been doing well (it hit top 10 this week). I feel like that song shows people what I'm like and what I believe is important.
Anyways...enough ranting about songwriting. As I write this I'm watching my baby girl Lauryn sleeping in her swing. She is hugging a teddy bear and making me feel like the luckiest guy alive. She reminds me that as much as I love music...there are more important things in life. I imagine you'll hear a few songs about her on my next CD. Hope to see ya out on the road! --Aaron
Not sure if any of you had a chance to see the Juno broadcast last night but it topped off a really fun weekend for me. It all started with a performance at the Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary. I played an acoustic show there on Thursday night. It was really great... got to hand out with some old friends and play for a packed house. My 2 nephews (Andrew 7 years old and Aidan 4 years old) came to the show which was fun... they hadn't seen me play in a while.
Friday started with a rehearsal for the TV show. It was scheduled to start at 9 am and started about 11 am. I can't think of one rehearsal for a TV show I've done that's actually run on time. It was fun though. Gave me few more hours to hang out with Paul, Shane, Johnny and Gord. We had some laughs and it was the first time I'd seen them in a little while.
After the rehearsal I had the Juno cup later on Friday evening. It was great... you guys know how much I love hockey so any chance I get to play I take it. I sat beside a hero of mine in the dressing room... Mr. Tom Cochrane. He's always been one of my favorites... and he was a really great guy. Also got to see another really cool guy that I'm a big fan of ... Jim Cuddy. For those of you who don't know that name... he's the lead singer of a great band called Blue Rodeo. I met him for the first time at the Juno's in 2004 in Edmonton. We played hockey together there as well and have seen each other at different events since then. He is a good hockey player and a great singer/songwriter.
During the Juno cup I also got to meet and hang out with some hockey heroes of mine. We played against some retired NHL players and got to have some drinks afterwards with them. The main ones were Doug Gilmour, Lanny MacDonald, Bob Probert and Paul Coffey. I grew up an Oiler fan so hanging out with Paul Coffey was probably the highlight. All the guys were great though.
Saturday I took part in Fan Fare which was autograph signing for fans. It was an hour long and gave me a chance to meet some great people.
Sunday started off a little rough. I woke up sick as a dog. I remember opening my eyes and the room spinning. It felt like I was really sea sick... I couldn't stand up without feeling sick. I thought I had the flu because I hadn't been drinking the night before. The real problem was I had dress rehearsal for the Juno telecast at 11 am and thought I may have to cancel. I was so sick I couldn't really get off the floor. After two hours of getting sick, I managed to feel good enough to get to the dress rehearsal. I actually had to get a ride down because I didn't think it was safe for me to drive. When I got to the arena....they put a garbage can on stage for me just in case I felt sick and couldn't get off stage in time. It was a pretty rough 2 hours there and on the ride home I still wasn't feeling well. This may be too much info. for some of you but... When i got home I had about 3 hours before I had to leave again for the red carpet interviews and show. I quickly grabbed an hour nap and luckily I woke up and was fine. I guess I must have had food poisoning...seemed like once my stomach was completely emptied everything was back to normal. So luckily I felt fine for the show....well about 80% but good enough.
Had a great time playing and watching the show. Went to a few after party's late into the evening and that was it. Now I've got a few days off before a show I play this weekend in Ontario.
Hope you guys enjoyed the Juno show as well! See you soon.--Aaron
