Ignition Showcase finalists, Alma Vertical, have stayed the course through the years. They are the prime example of perseverance and believing in one self. As the obstacles kept coming they got stronger, wiser and more determined. In the winter of 2006 they completed their debut ,self titled album, ”Alma Vertical” which got quite a bit of attention by hitting the airwaves of Orlando, Florida with the Latin flavored “ Yire”. The trio’s dynamic members are lead singer/bassist, Erick “Bluesman” Rodz, drummer/percussionist, Ellis “Bam Bam” Martinez and guitarist, Cesar “El G.Q.” Rios. If you meet them you immediately realize that they are very different in styles and musical backgrounds, yet they share the same passion and drive to make Alma Vertical a success. Erick “Bluesman” Rodz is the most experienced member of the group. He brings a powerful and soulful voice along with his charismatic demeanor and dynamic bass playing. The minute you listen to him sing and play you will immediately notice his bluesy and soulful roots. Next is energetic, passionate and mega talented drummer, Ellis “Bam Bam” Martinez. His influences range from Latin, funk, jazz, contemporary gospel, rock…etc etc (well, you get the picture!). His versatility and skills were recognized by GMS drums which to this day endorse him. Last but not least is the founder of the group, guitarist, Cesar “El G.Q.” Rios. A well known and respected session player/ producer in the Tampa area, Cesar brings a calm yet intense presence which is heavily influenced in rock, funk, jazz and blues. The sky is the limit for this talented, hard working trio. They are currently seeking management and sponsorship to continue to build the momentum started by their debut album. They are currently working on their, cross over follow up album, which is expected to be released sometime in 2008.
