The...
More...The Times They Are A-Changin'
Greetings~
I hope you're well and weathering the craziness/excitement/fear/wonderment and hope of the world right now.
I just made the pilgrimage down to Los Angeles from San Francisco and while it is now officially Autumn (the fall equinox occurred on Sept 22), it's been about 100 degrees here so it still feels like summer. By the way, if you know of anyone in LA subletting or leasing a room or studio starting Nov. 1, or looking for a great house or petsitter, please let me know.
Below I've highlighted some amazing music that is occurring right now...it seems like most all of my favorite artists are doing exciting things and I wanted to pass along the good vibrations. There is nothing (much) more thrilling to me than finding new music that hits deep, and I hope that maybe you'll find something below that makes you smile.

Jolie Holland live at home in Brooklyn

This is an intimate video of folk songstress Jolie Holland singing "Mexico City" from her new album, The Living and the Dead.
Speaking of which, her friend and all around amazing songwriter, Sean Hayes, is finishing up a tour with the Cold War Kids in Colorado and California. He has a free mp3 of a great song "No, No Guantanamo" available for download on Myspace. One of the most inspirational cats on the scene right now.

Lucinda Williams Listening Party

Right now you can listen to 5 new tracks from Lucinda's upcoming CD, Little Honey, which hasn't even been released yet. Holy moly. The CD includes a song entitled "Honey Bee," which, according to this review, I wrote. Well, can't say that I did, really, but it would be amazing to have a song of mine covered by Lu. Someday, baby, someday. I do actually have a song entitled "Honeybee," the first song I ever wrote (unless you count the one I wrote for a class in high school...but I don't...). I also just found out this summer that Tom Petty has a song called "Honeybee," from my current favorite album, Wildflowers. How I've overlooked this album for 14 years is beyond me, but what's important is that it finally found me. A good soundtrack to accompany the exploration of the City of Angels.
So yeah, I've been in LA for almost three weeks and so far it's been pretty great. I played for Kevin Nealon and son at the Manhattan Beach Farmers' Market, my first brush with fame (even got a lil' tip in the tip bucket!) and then enjoyed a tall Miller Lite (tastes like home) while watching the dolphins jump under the setting sun.
I've been working on some record label stuff and was wondering if you could help me out by doing a short survey. It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes, depending on how much you write. Please click here to complete the survey if you're interested.
Godspeed and happy trails,
*Anna
