Be true to who you are. In a society that’s saturated with cookie cutter wannabe’s, Brittany McDonald has found a way to separate herself from the mold, by just being Brittany. With a fearlessly independent attitude, a distinctive and powerful voice, a sass-with-class charisma, and lyrical honesty, she has discovered how to resonate within all those who have been exposed to her music.
“Moving to Nashville not knowing a soul, was quite possibly one of the best things I have ever done,” says Brittany. “I had the opportunity to discover who I was, alone, and more importantly, who I was not. We can’t possibly know everything that we want out of life when we haven’t experienced it all, but we can know what we don’t want. Knowing who I’m not, has been the biggest component in defining my music, as well as me as an artist.”
Brittany’s song, “Another Wanna Be,” with it’s cheeky delivery, reflects that very same ideal, “I’m not a wanna be celebrity…Not into copying made-up reality.” Her playful honesty landed Another Wanna Be on the new 2009 Sony MP3 Players, on over 8 million units worldwide. With an EP already in place on iTunes, she has received a great deal of attention, along with rave reviews from not only U.S. listeners, but fans in the UK, Australia, Italy, Germany, Canada, and the list continues on.
Besides the worldwide exposure, Brittany’s first song ever recorded, found a home in the hands of former President of Sony/BMG International Music, Rick Dobbis and his partner Jim McKeon. They were crazy about her song “Wild N Crazy,” and convinced the song was a hit, they asked if they could give it a test drive on radio. After sending the song to Hawaii in the summer of 2007, radio is still spinning it, and dying to say that they broke Brittany McDonald’s record, first.
Only 24, Brittany’s spark and determination, along with her impeccable knack for timing, has allowed her to co-write, co-produce, create an image, and maximize opportunities for exposure, in an increasingly technology-driven music industry. “I want my record to be completely interactive, where fans can have access and options to experiences they’ve never seen before.” With an iPhone application deal currently in the works, Brittany McDonald’s stars are aligned to do just that, and reach the masses with a sound and a message that’s unique, approachable, and ultimately, real.
