Starting a band can be a very hard process to undertake, but there are certain cases when every puzzle piece seems to fit. Such is the case with CROSSTOWN RIVAL. Growing up in the musically rich area of Orange County each member of CROSSTOWN RIVAL had seen what the great bands around were up to. C.J. who was messing around in garage bands for a year or two decided to seriously pursue his passion of music. So the search began to put together a band that would blend characteristics of emo, punk, alternative and all that’s in between. So with a little searching the first piece was found. Out of Newport Beach Justin McCarthy came with drum sticks in hand. With an at first metal style of drumming the two quickly found a common ground to work from. From the start comcepts of timing changes and a multitude of tempos quickly became evident. And with that the next piece of the puzzle was added Aaron Mendoza from Santa Ana joined with a firm concept of punk and the fine details that make it great. Quickly Aaron and C.J. were able to collaborate in creating what would be extremely close the CROSSTOWN RIVAL sound everyone knows today. With blends of over laying riffs and octaves the ground work was almost done. The final a completing piece was added in Andrew Maxey. A fan of punk and alternative styles of music Andrew completed the circle that was destined to be CROSSTOWN RIVAL. Over a few short months of rehearsals a few times a week the guys had pieced together what is now known as the “Three Month Eclipse EP.” After getting the material out via MP3.com and JAVAMUSIC.com the buzz has begun to grow. With each energy filled show the number multiply. Their catchy riffs and infectious vocals bring you in and simply won’t let go.
