"Ms. Genzano has that slightly Badu-esque fingersnap swagger. Her vocals are sweet and spot-on..." - Craig Gilbert, The New Haven Advocate, July 1st, 2004 Chelsea Genzano was plucking out tunes on the piano by the age of 4, teaching herself to play guitar by the age of 11, and performing in coffee shops and bars at only 13 years old. Now 26, Chelsea is bringing her gift of soul to an all too often bland world of acoustic music. She's not your average "folk-singer" by any means, mixing reggae, hip-hop, soul and jazz tendencies with the simplicity of your mama's folk music. Her guitar playing ranges from soft folky finger-picking to aggressive hammer-ons. Her lyrics are frighteningly honest, and her voice blows open the doors to any venue. Chelsea has opened for artists such as Patty Larkin, Edie Carey, Kris Delmhorst, Catie Curtis, Jess Klein and Heather Eatman and has performed at such venues as The Bitter End in NYC, Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, CT, and the SoNo Arts fest in South Norwalk, CT. Most recently, Chelsea made some waves in the San Diego, CA music scene, playing popular venues such as Lestat's and being one of 12 musicians in San Diego county to perform for the annual Acoustic Alliance at Cane's in Mission Beach.
