Since its conception in 2000, Ellen Says No has faced all of the challenges that any great band must face. From the loss of band members to personal drama the band has come out the other side stronger than ever. Their Latest release “Angels & Devils” is a testament to their resilience and talent. Following in the footsteps of their Northwest forefathers, Modest Mouse and Death Cab for Cutie, Ellen Says No has spent the last seven years building an impressive grassroots fan base that spans not only their native Seattle but includes many cities across the nation. They have also spent that time honing their skills and crafting unique and passionate songs filled from front to back with catchy, melodic hooks. The introduction of Drummer Mitch Robins in 2006 breathed new life into this stunning powerhouse. His tight fills perfectly compliment bass player Jeff Hatchel’s understated combination of groove and melody. Singer/songwriter Jon Stewart’s unique vocals, full of passion and longing, bring to life images of lost love and missed opportunities. All the while lead guitarist Ryan Hooper’s luscious and instantly memorable melody lines underline every powerful image. Beginning with a sold out CD release party and an aggressive marketing campaign, 2007 is shaping up to be a promising year for this Northwest staple.
