Chicago’s Sears Center Hosts One and Only Performance
Featuring 31- Piece Orchestra and 9-Person Choir
Christmas came early this year for PBS’ Soundstage presented by MasterCard, when Faith Hill used the show for the first and only full performance of her upcoming Christmas album, Joy to the World, set for release on September 30th. She performed each song on the album, including its first single, “A Baby Changes Everything,” for Soundstage presented by MasterCard, the ground-breaking concert series on PBS. Joined by a thirty-one person orchestra and nine person choir, Faith blew the audience away with her unique and powerful interpretations of timeless Christmas standards. “From the minute she belted out the first note of Joy to the World, it was impossible not to get swept up in her gorgeous take on all the holiday classics,” said one journalist present at the taping.
Faith’s Joy to the World taping marks only the second Christmas taping for the Soundstage presented by MasterCard series since its inception in 2001. While the majority of Soundstage presented by MasterCard concerts are filmed before small studio audiences at WTTW’s Grainger Studio in Chicago, Faith’s performance was taped at the famed Sears Centre Arena before an audience of nearly 4,000. Faith’s exclusive full performance of Joy to the World premiers on PBS Thanksgiving week and will be repeated throughout December.
Showcasing the raw talent and vocal ability that has made her one of country music’s most beloved artists, Faith delivered a performance that was filled with “lush orchestrations and layered vocal arrangements.” “Silent Night,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “Holly Jolly Christmas” and “A Baby Changes Everything,” highlighted the 45 minute set.
Joy to the World contains 11 tracks of some of the holiday season’s most recognizable and beloved classics. Grammy Award winner David Campbell provides a newly composed full orchestration for Joy, which includes “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.” Joy to the World is co-produced by Dann Huff, Byron Gallimore and Faith.
