The band consists of two guys: Jaime and Ahren. Jaime is the singer/keyboardist/playwright and Ahren is the guitarist/screamer/techie. They both share songwriting duties. In its earliest form, this musical entity came to be in 2003 as two friends came together to jam and record in Jaime's basement. It was a very informal affair: three guys with the same desire to record their songs. With the facilities at hand, they recorded their first song together: Ahren's "Naughty Song." This gathering sparked many more jamming sessions until the time came for Ahren and Jaime to record an album. In August of 2005, before their departure to college Ahren and Jaime recorded their first basement album: Summer Project II, which is still quite popular in the Wyoming area. Originally, the band name was to be Brothers in Arms, but soon after discovering Brothers in Arms was a Dire Straits album, the duo retreated to their theatre roots and chose a more suitable name-- Something Shakespeare. Now, as their music takes on a new direction for their sophmore album, their name has become FOR THE BENEFIT. As students of theater, the duo strive to convey character in their songs and tell a few awesome stories.
