  Nobody gives humanity a scolding quite like Joni -- she speaks from the top of the mountain! :-) The new songs on SHINE that really spit the vitriol are "Bad Dreams," "Strong and Wrong," and "Shine." In "Bad Dreams" she sings, "You cannot be trusted / Do you even know you're lying . . . We live in these electric scabs / These lesions once were lakes / No one knows how to shoulder the blame / Or learn from past mistakes." There is one beautiful, uplifting song on the album -- "Hana." The truth hurts, though, which is why Joni's career languishes and the Eagles -- through an exclusive deal with the devil (Wal-Mart) -- prosper. It's sad.
