She grew up on the outskirts of Lagos, Nigeria, in the quiet and reserved Satellite Town (a.k.a. Sat Town). She got involved with rap as a hobby but then it stuck after months and months of constant mimes to tracks by popular international acts like Bone Thugs and Harmony, Eminem, Missy Elliot, Eve and Left Eye.
Kel embarked on her journey to fame and success in 2002 when she hooked up with underground music label, TESTIFY MUSIC but following a series of events, that ship had to sail. Then off she went to learn more about music, the art of RAP and hone her skills; in that time she worked with several artistes and producers such as Freestyle, Terry tha Rapman, Jokaynie, Beatworx and Sound Sultan.
Years later in 2007, she caught the attention of Nigerian film directorand video maestro, Clarence Peters, who signed her up to his record label, Capital Hill Records.
Already being called the most anticipated hip-hop album for 2008, her debut album is expected to be released in the end of 2008 and will feature great talent and brilliant collaborations with several African acts such as 9ice, Durela, Illbliss, M.I, Nyore, Jabba from South African hip-hop group, “Hip-hop Pantsula” (HHP), just to mention a few. The album is being produced by Tha Suspect with beats from Dr. Frabs, Bigfoot, Knighthouse, J. Martins and many more.
The first single off the yet-to-be titled album is called ‘Waa Wa Alright’, which simply means ‘We’ll be alright’. The song is simple and serves her signatory; it was produced by Tha Suspect (another Capital Hill artiste) and features an artiste called Skin. The video was directed and shot by Clarence Peters and is currently getting very impressive reviews in local and international media.
She’s currently on her 3rd year, studying Economics at the Lagos State University, Agege Campus in Lagos, Nigeria.
