Optical Delusion was formed in 2004 as the result of two brothers’ uncompromised vision to create music. After Chris Cactus was kicked out of his own band, BMP, for wanting to create more complex music, he turned to his older brother, Ricky. They joined creative forces to build a complex musical machine that was named Optical Delusion.
Influenced not only by rock, but also by blues, jazz, funk, and even classical music, the Cactuses explore vast aural landscapes that most modern bands are afraid to touch. This is especially evident in the phaser-laden guitars of "Subspace", the vintage blues-rock of "Lonely Cactus Blues", and the surreal, acoustic setting of "Blueshift Retrograde", to name a few. Chris’s melody-driven guitar lines and distinctive baritone voice, backed by Ricky’s powerful drumming carve out a unique place in the music world.
