"This is the first Portastatic song I ever heard, and now they're my favorite band. Autumn Got Dark is the first song on the 2003 EP Autumn Was A Lark, which directly followed the 2003 album Summer Of The Shark. The first line of the song makes reference to this succession saying "So much for the summer of the shark; the autumn got dark so fast..." It made its appearance on my 33rd CD, A False Start, in early 2006. Since their original 1993 EPs, and their following 1994 album I Hope Your Heart Is Not Brittle, Portastatic has accumulated an impressive collection of diverse songs spanning several genres. They've had more then a dozen releases including six full length albums and two independent movie soundtracks. These factors combined to make Portastatic my favorite band, which never would have happened without this song."
