Rich Kubicz is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Union, New Jersey. The recently released Echo Lake record began as a small hobby for Rich in the late 90's after he had met and befriended Ron Kuhnke. Ron is a brilliant recording engineer who owned an interest in a small recording studio in Pleasant Valley, New York. Rich thought it would be the perfect opportunity to record some of the many songs he had written early on...most often played simply on an acoustic guitar. Rich recruited Pete Dressel(drums) and Chris Bolger(bass). Two studio sessions later with this dynamic duo and we had the rhythm foundation for the songs that would later form the record Echo Lake. Rich decided to self produce the record with the help of Ron and many of the musicians Ron new through his connection in the independant music scene in up state New York. One by one, we brought in some very talented folks that added layer and depth to the music that generally could stand alone as simple guitar songs. Echo Lake contains a plethora of musical styles from many different genres of music. Most notably, the country tunes on the record seem to garner the most positive responses from internet radio stations and right here on Garageband. A new record is in the works. In the meantime, Rich's love for independant music led him to co-create a music forum on the internet called www.letsrockamerica.com. This website and a series of mirror sites enable independant musicians from all over the country to place free classified ads for musicians, gear, gigs and chat both locally and nationwide...eventually world wide.
