  They made socially-conscious rap with a pop sensibility that made it appealing to many different people's tastes, but it still had a hard edge to it. You don't really see a combinations like that in American hip-hop anymore. Anything that attempts to have half a brain in hip-hop these days either hits you over the head with overzealous intellectualism, or has an overproduced Starbucks-flavoured quality--in either case, it sucks all the fun out of it. S-N-P had meaning while still being fun, ... More...
