SENATE is the newest dominant force in Canadian Metal.
Alongside such young, talented heavyweights as Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre and Protest The Hero, SENATE are part of a suddenly thriving Canadian metal scene ready to take the torch from legendary acts such as Cryptopsy and Kataklysm and carry it into the future on a global scale.
SENATE combine elements of Thrash, Black Metal, and Melodic Metal to forge an ultra-aggressive, hook- laden style of their own.
SENATE is comprised of five members: Matt Di Franco (Vocals), Jay Siebert (Lead Guitar), Jay Hudson (Rhythm Guitar), Keith Gillam (Bass) and Pat Hamelin (Drums).
SENATE's roots date back to 2003, but the band really became the complete unit it is today with the addition of Pat as a permanent member in the summer of 2006.
On Dec 17 2006, SENATE independently released its full length debut album 'The Great Northern Scenekill'.
The (self-financed) record was recorded at Silo Studio in Hamilton, ON with Producer Julius "Juice" Butty (Alexisonfire, Protest The Hero, Cancer Bats).
The album was mastered at Antfarm Studios in Denmark by Tue Madsen (Rob Halford, Lamb Of God, The Haunted). The album contains eight sonic slabs of masterfully executed metal. Each track reveals the band's high level of depth, maturity and dedication to their craft, elements not typically associated with young bands on a debut record.
No quantizing or sound replacement was used in the creation of 'The Great Northern Scenekill'.
Senate has been featured in 'Metal Maniacs', 'Unrestrained!', and 'Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles' magazine recently named 'The Great Northern Scenekill' as the third best independent album of 2007.
Senate has also received generous amounts of airplay on several internet radio stations across North America, and is quickly becoming a chart climber on Garageband.
