Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band
Inspired by the courage with which people maintain the struggle against overwhelming odds, the Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band delivers empowering tales of triumph over adversity—some haunting, some surreal, others based on real-life issues. Celebrated for her extraordinary vocal ability and captivating stage presence, Sheila’s live performance has been described as "beautiful, raw emotion in audio form." Dubbed a "blues angel," her vocals fall somewhere between Norah Jones and Joss Stone, with the emotional intensity of Bjork and the angelic sweetness of Sarah McLachlan. Chris Hughes, bassist, percussionist, engineer, and madman behind all-things-technical with the band, is putting his creative genius to work. The band is developing an innovative show for the ‘07/’08 tour season that will allow them to bring the full, epic sound of their new album Perspectives to the stage, but with only the two of them performing. This will be achieved through the use of triggered percussion, live looping, the changing of instruments on the fly, and is growing to include lighting effects and video. The two-piece band creates an empowering wall of sound as their organic and electric instruments collide with technology. It is a feast for the eyes, the ears, and the soul.
