But as a university, it is also open to international cooperation, above all with other universities and research centres in the Mediterranean area. University of Foggia is the only one Italian university to have an agreement with LEGAMBIENTE (the most important national association for the environment: http://www.legambiente.eu/documenti/2006/0925_dipartimentoInternazionale/presentazione_EN.php) and to have a social and environmental balance. The year 2009 is an important milestone for the University of Foggia, marking the tenth anniversary since it was established in 1999. We would be very honoured if you would make a concert with Bjork in our archaeological excavation area in Herdonia (near Foggia, in the south part of Italy http://www.archeologia.unifg.it/ric/scavi/herd.asp) on 5th September or other date that you prefer in the same month. Herdonia is the Roman town where Hannibal fought a major battle against the Roman Army. The ruins of Herdonia were discovered in the years after the Second World War, and remain only partially excavated. Your concert could overshadow the historical concert of Pink Floyd at Pompei, in 1971. If you accept our proposal you may contribute with our university to help Abbruzzi population who have been affected by a terrible earthquake. We cannot offer a cachet very high, because we have only € 50,000 for this expenditure item. We can pay, of course, all the travel expenses and for your accommodation. The area can contain over a thousand spectators who can access only after having paid € 10 for the Abbruzzi population. What do you think about this initiative?
