Temptation, salvation, desire and despair are great tools and themes and something I know a lot about... I started hitting open mics around Buffalo,NY in the late 90's, mostly doing covers of U2, REM, Indigo Girls, etc. The first song I did was "All Along the Watchtower" and got an unbearable cramp between my forefinger and thumb from playing it all in barre chords. Eventually, I started writing more of my own songs and began booking gigs, playing mostly for tips at coffee shops. Since then I've released my own collection of songs, "Beautiful Addiction," average 3 to 4 gigs a week, opened for some national acts, and have been honored with regional recognition, (voted "Top Original Acoustic Solo" performer - Buffalo Music Awards 2004 and nominated for same, 2005; 1 of top 3 nominees in the ArtVoice Best of Buffalo, 2005). These days I do most shows as a duo with Meredith Brown on backing vocals, percussion and guitar. Her voice is incredably clear and warm. Plus she has an uncanny sense to know where the song is going and how to let it breathe or build. I also have a couple of other friends, who I affectionately refer to as the Gravedigger's Union, that back me up for bigger gigs.
