Supermack pumps out catchy rock and heavy funk with a smooth lyrical flow, punctuated by a quirky sense of humor. The five piece from just outside of Washington DC have developed a “jazzed-out, bass-intensive edge” that sets them apart from the army of angry alt-metal bands currently saturating the airwaves. With their debut ‘Shafted’ under their belt and a slick new EP due in July 2002, the band has evolved to find it’s own sound and have found recognition and respect from their peers in the process. In 2001, Supermack made the final cut of 10 bands out of over 600 entries in Washington DC's DC101 ‘Unsigned Band Contest’, and has been highlighted by the mid-atlantic’s Unsung Hero Magazine as one of the regions top up-and-coming bands. Supermack has played extensively in the Washington DC metro area for the past four years, polishing a stage show that combines rock glam with a bit of street hardness. Touring highlights include sharing the stage with national and regional heavy-hitters, such as Vanilla Ice, King’s X, Shootyz Groove, Dog Fashion Disco, IMBUE, SEV, Fighting Gravity, Live Alien Broadcast, Margret Heater and Rev.9. In October of 1999, Supermack supported The Goo Goo Dolls and Tonic, as part of The MP3.com Music and Technology Tour. Initially, Supermack secured distribution for its debut album ‘Shafted’ with Fowl Records (Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, Live Alien Broadcast, Laughing Colors, Rezin) and reached #5 in Web Sales for May 2001 on Fowl’s website. While the album has now sold out of it’s initial run, the band is hard at work on a new release for summer 2002. ‘Shafted’ was produced by Marco Delmar, winner of the Washington Area Music Association Producer of the Year and Studio Engineer of the Year for 2000, 2001 and 2002. The cover art was designed by BRUTE!, famous for his work with KMFDM. Songs from Supermack’s 2000 CD ‘Shafted’ have started getting airplay on DC-area radio stations such as DC101 and Baltimore’s 98 Rock. Recently, the band was a featured Mp3 artist at the Philips/Siemens 2001 Finnish Skateboarding Championships, and contributed to a documentary film about the Championship. Supermack songs will be included in two upcoming video game titles. Taking advantage of the internet for promotion of their music, Supermack has consistently charted well on the web. On the most popular music site MP3.com, Supermack has had over 30,000 downloads to date, making them one of the most downloaded DC metro area bands on the internet just behind Dog Fashion Disco and Sev, and ahead of major label signees Godhead.
