    What can I say. Fantastic. Just watched the Uncertain Smile video and memories flood back. Saw them in Newport in the late 80's. Great music, great lyrics.

    been into matt johnson since soul mining '82. passed a gcse english language poetry test thing by using the lyrics to heartland. have a great vinyl collection. too much to say. favourite song - er, er. just the one? erm, er. probably heartland, then giant, then uncertain smile, solitude (ok, not strictly his song!). anyway. shameless has just started. nice to know theres a few the the fans still around. what a perfect day

    Love the band. And am very fortunate to have seen them 4 times- and 4 very different gigs. I hope they tour again, but, I can't see it myself.

    Saw The The at the Albert Hall. Amazing night. A band that joins the long, sorry list of bands that never got the full recognition and appreciation they deserved. Intelligent, philosophical, radical and passionate music that had the ability to make people think. I dont think I could ever had survived Thatcherism without their music!
