Hi folks,
I am writing you to urge you to: write-fax-e-mail your elected officials, especially your local House member.
And please, pass this along to anyone you remember as a Jawbox-Burning Airlines-Channels fan! Get your friends and family to write in!

I am writing you to urge you to: write-fax-e-mail your elected officials, especially your local House member.
And please, pass this along to anyone you remember as a Jawbox-Burning Airlines-Channels fan! Get your friends and family to write in!
As you probably all know, Jay Robbins has a very sick baby boy, Cal.
Cal is doing well for a baby diagnosed with SMA. And a lot of breakthroughs are being made in SMA research.
There is a bill currently in the House and Senate called the SMA Treatment and Acceleration Act.
If the SMA treatment act is passed, then much more money will be put into research, and certain therapies will actually be put into clinical trials!
Then perhaps, an effective treatment and even a cure can be found. Maybe Cal and others like him could live a reasonable comfortable and normal life.
It's important that this bill is passed relatively soon, after the November elections this bill will probably get lost in the shuffle of a new congress, and be put in limbo.
So, it is urgent to try to contact your representative and senator and get them to co-sponsor this bill.
But Wait! OOPS! Big news! You don't need to write your senators! Both Senators Boxer and Feinstein have signed on as co-sponsors, just a few weeks ago. So, please, take a few minutes and a few cents on stamps. Write a letter (which still carries more weight than an e-mail) send a fax, or at least send an e-mail! Urge your representatives to sign on as a cosponsor. This bill looks as if it might actually have a chance of passing if enough Senators and Representatives, sign on as co-sponsors. This is a non-partisan issue, because SMA doesn't care how you vote!
You can read more about it and have it explained better to you than I could ever possibly hope to explain it at these addresses:

Jay Robbin's has made and worked on so much music (including the Dismemberment Plan's records) that has rocked my world, that I feel like it's time to do my part to help him and his family out.

this band changed my life, so good.

I miss this band immensely. Very sad I never saw them live, and even sadder that - as with TISTR - they decided to do a reunion based on two shows in one city :(
Si.

i live in DC and I will personally walk door to door to round them up and put instruments in their hands. and yeah, i wasn't 21 when they were together, but let's not let a thing like age come between us

I got into d-plan right after they broke up, and it has been my dream to see them reunite ever since.

can we start a petition to get the d plan back together? i got to see them three times before they broke up, and it was phenomenal every time. for those who are familiar w/ their shows, they invited the crowd on stage during ice of boston. the last time i saw them on their final tour, i got up there and danced like a goof beside travis the whole time. anyone who is a fan needs to see them live at least once in their lifetime.

the thing i liked the best about the dismemberment plan was the story telling. you are invited, the ice of boston. great tunes, great lyrics.
