I saw the 'Mats at their last show at Taste of Chicago back in '91. I couldn't see or hear a thing from where i was standing, but it was so anti-climactic after seeing them in '87 on the Pleased to Meet Me Tour.
They're missed!
I started dating this girl in college and really didn't think too much of her at first. I didn't expect it to last too long. Then I saw tapes of Hootenanny and Let It Be in her car.
We dated for two years after that. I don't think I ever really liked her that much, but I liked the idea of my girlfriend liking the Replacements. No other band in the world could ever cloud my judgment as well as the Replacements.

I worked in a college record store from 1988 to 1990 and while all of my coworkers were across town enjoying the Replacements, I chose to see Throwing Muses at the old 930. Lo and behold near the end of the show, Tommy Stinson and Tommy Keene (local mainstay) roll in with Stinson dressed exactly as he was in the I'll Be You video.
It was surreal chatting with him as Throwing Muses finished up the last of their encores.
I was more impressed meeting the Muses at the time but, now, I th...
