VIOLAINE ~ The unlikely story of a singing former sorority girl from the Bible Belt and a Monk-like reclusive guitarist from the big city. VIOLAINE is led by guitarist Ewen Williams and singer Shawna Hogan. Shawna, hailing originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been singing since the age of seven, genres like Musical Theatre to Italian Opera to Choir (in which she obtained a vocal music scholarship at Texas Christian University). She sites such influences as Ann Wilson (Heart), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) and Jann Arden. Ewen, a Los Angeles native, has been involved with music most of his life, including playing guitar since 1990. Having influences such as Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and Frank Zappa has helped him create his own unique sound, which presents itself within VIOLAINE. VIOLAINE spends their time playing shows around Los Angeles and surrounding areas and they've been played on radio stations across the US, including San Francisco, CA, Michigan and Tulsa, OK. Along with constantly writing and recording all their own material at their home studio, they are currently vigorously promoting their music to a steadily increasing audience. Combining Shawna’s skill of writing lyrics acquired through a lifetime of bad relationships and Ewen’s keen artistic musicality obtained through years of having no social life, they’ve created their own unique sound.
