    No it was because wagner was insane and thought that he was God's gift to mankind. I mean literally, he thought that God conceived him for the sole purpose of writing the music that he did, because no one else could do it. That being said, wagner had like 2 months of conservatory training, as opposed to other composers who had been trained all their lives, which makes wagner even more amazing (the crazy mo-fo). It's also rumored that Wagner had an affair with Friedrich Nietzsche

    Probably says that because ol' Richard was somewhat of a nationalist and had some extreme Germanic views. Some of them good, some of them a bit out there. But his music stirs me to the bone.
