Tim Foley and Cate Doefer are two friends in their mid-40s who have been friends since high school and have been sitting in each others living rooms making music together for over 20 years, and on a whim two years ago, began co-writing original songs. They have released their first CD in August of 2005, and are hard at work whipping together a second collection of songs for release in 2006 entitled "Naked on a Goat". 'Monkeyshine' refers to a homemade banana wine that Cate's husband Brian cooks up in their basement that seems to have magical inhibition-reducing qualities when taken in moderate doses. Their songs are a hodge-podge of musical styles and influences, but held together by vocal harmonies, wryly humorous character-driven lyrics, and complete ignorance of current trends or styles. Cate sings & writes lyrics, Tim sings, writes lyrics, composes, arranges & plays the instruments.
