Memphis, TN is well known for producing some of the best rock music of all time. In recent months, the Memphis rock scene has exploded once again with more and more bands gaining national attention. One of the bands at the center of this attention is Bullet Theory. The band formed in 1997 when Jimmy Fulp switched from drums to singing and playing guitar. In order to expand their sound, a second guitarist was needed. A phone conversation and two rehearsals later, Kent Fortson was helping to reshape the Bullet Theory sound. Next, add the powerful drumming of Lonnie Hammer. He has given new life to the older material and enables the band to take their music to another level. The recent addition of Shawn Few on bass has solidified the line-up. Bullet Theory music hit the airwaves in 1999 when “I Give In” was featured on the 92.9 MFS Catch of the Day. The listeners call in and vote to keep it or throw it back. This was the only song by a local band that was featured and was voted a keeper. It hit #11 on the MFS playlist. It is now being featured on a Garageband.com compilation titled "Evolved." In December of 2000, “Rewind” went to #1 in Garageband.com’s Final Cut. The winner received a $250,000 recording contract. The song finished at #9 and is at #14 on the all-time charts. The band plays throughout the Mid-South area and has opened for Saliva, Dust For Life, Full Devil Jacket, and Breaking Point. Their live show is full of energy and exceptional musicianship. Currently, the band is at Ardent Studios tracking for their second CD. Skidd Mills (Seven Channels, Space Hog, ZZ Top, Sister Hazel, Hole) is producing and it is scheduled for a late 2002 release.
