A fellow artist once said, "Her music does what every songwriter wishes their music could do: it hollows you out, then fills you back in. It breaks your heart and builds you a new one. It moves you." Winters Never Quit, Laura Distasi's debut album, seems to capture both the vibrancy and isolation of city life. She plucks moments from the everyday, holding up promise in one hand and heartbreak in the other. Her lyrics hit close to the bone and are heavy with imagery. After creating the album tracks "No City Life" and "Expectations" with producer/guitarist, David Little, before ever meeting face to face, they each relocated to NYC, her from Boston/ him from Charleston, SC, and continued to work together. Now close friends and musical partners, they are currently in the process of recording an EP due for release in Summer of 2007. This duo delivers a captivating, almost cinematic live sound, rich and lush with layers of electronic beats, guitar loops, keyboards, and synths, which one reviewer described as "Postal Service with Sarah McLachlan at the helm". The songs feel their way through impressionistic landscapes, exploring the complexity and depth of relationships.. nostalgic, yet hopeful that anything worth lamenting is, once was, or could be beautiful.
