Louis Gentile, an international opera singer, was born in West Haven CT and started out singing in his rock/pop group and touring the United States when he was 15. At 19 he recorded the single "If I Had The Chance" and did vocal work in Nashville. All during this time his vocal quality and ability was recognized by local and international admirers. He was given lead roles in local and off-Broadway American musicals. ( Man of Lamancha, Carousel, Show Boat ) Also during this time he continued his vocal studies, expanding his interests into the field of classical opera. Living in New York city for five years he worked with some of the best vocal people in the world, and sang at an opera restaurant in Greenwich Village. (Bianchi e Margarittas) This would all soon lead to a full scholarship to the Zürich Opera studio in Switzerland. Since then, Louis has enjoyed the status as one of the most respected operatic tenors in the business, singing in the world’s leading opera houses and working with classical greats such as Daniel Barenboim and Antonio Pappano. In Europe he is better known for award winning television productions of opera works. He never lost his love or drive for singing and writing many different forms of popular music. Many of Louis’ songs have been used for film scoring, and Lou recently wrote the film score for the German based film “22 Kilometer gegen Rechts” from Florian Prey. His love for country music started when, while in New York, he helped coach actor Robert Duvall on guitar for his then upcoming movie “Tender Mercies.” Today Louis lives in a 500 year old water mill in the resort area of Eitorf-Bach in Germany. He is renovating the mill, complete with recording studio. It is his base for his international opera activities, as well as his continuing love for composing and performing original works. In the future Louis will continue singing the longest and most difficult tenor roles in the operatic repertoire, (Tristan, Tannhäuser, Siegfried) in the world's finest opera houses, with some of the greatest musicians of our generation.
