A seemingly straightforward lo-fi acoustic album, Brooklyn New York based Michael Burgess releases his debut, Paper Flowers. Independently produced and recorded, this remarkably well received album has been embraced as a sparking sidewalk gem. With 11 tracks clocking in at just 32 minutes, Paper Flowers is a pointed relief of humble mellow yellow gold. A self described "urban folk hermit", Burgess spins webs like an unassuming spider stepping out into the city sun. Listened to in track order there is a very simply stated and comfortable flow to these songs. With poignant self assuring lyrics and easy chair arrangements, Paper Flowers feels like a declaration of melancholy longing in bloom with bright blue hope. - Lo-Fi Living Room, Brooklyn 2004
