Making good music takes time, and the Mississippi Kings sure know a thing or two about time. Years of writing songs and playing in clubs has culminated in the musical stylings of the Mississippi Kings. Nick Cino and Mike Ventimiglia, both 23, are the band's primary songwriters, combining rock 'n' roll, blues, soul, and country in a way that is unique among young musicians. Coupled with their songwriting, the two have made their own distinct style combining a fierce double-vocal attack, stack harmonies, and soulful guitar work. The groove is held down by Daniel Stajduhar and Dave Marini, and after having played music that ranges from hard rock to polka, it is no surprise that the duo creates a rhythm section that is tough to beat. With the new addition of Ivan Katkic on piano and organ, the band's sound has taken on an exciting new dynamic.
Formed in 2006, the Kings have already established themselves as true rock 'n' rollers by captivating audiences with their catchy tunes and rockin' live show. Their self-titled EP was recorded at Toronto's Sleepytown Sound, and contains six tracks that showcase the band's ability to craft the best rock 'n' soul north of the Mississippi.
And after all is said and done, all the Mississippi Kings really want is for you to listen to the music. Only so much can be said in words, and the Mississippi Kings are a band that would rather sing anyway.
