Seven years ago, Hillary, Becky, Scarlet and Meaghan joined creative forces with the intention of becoming a band whose creativity would allow them to move away from the stereotypical sound of female artists. Their performances turn heads; their addictive melodies and acerbic lyrics demand attention. In 1998 they recorded their first CD, Veronica, a six-song compilation. A new 2-song single CD - Borrow, has recently been recorded and is now available. Audiences describe starving friday as gifted lyricists with phenomenal musicianship. Their songs and performances deliver a blend of music influenced by groups like Veruca Salt, Deftones and Catherine Wheel. Their songs range from melodious to energy-venting kick rock. Starving friday has opened for some well-known acts, such as Sloan, Rufus Wainwright, Rusty, Glueleg, Scratching Post, Clarknova, Ron Hawkins and the Rusty Nails, Salmonblaster, Robin Black and the Intergalactic Rock Stars and Cheerleader.
