"There are still a few U2 songs that have not reached my saturation point. This is one of them. ~ http://www.savefile.com/files/1743176"

"This one goes out to all nations currently at war, including my own. As a fictional soldier played by Warren Oates once said, 'lighten up (Francis).'"

"If this is a debut it's going to be a tough act to follow. Very polished. I expect to hear it coming from the radios of passing cars very soon."

I've been very wordy in my recent recs, so I'll just say I really like this song."

"I've lived all of my life in either NY or MA so this song's backing vocal of 'New York Boston' is special to me. When in MA I was privileged to know many of Boston's local musicians and actors, and the high point for me was 'For the Benefit of Mr. Dee' in May 2000 when I got a chance to act onstage with Acme Theatr (yes, they spelled it that way) at Axis on Lansdowne Street, to help raise money for medical care for renowned local DJ Mikey Dee. I had a wonderful time that night mingling backstage with Gary Cherone, Kay Hanley and others, and of course working with Ad Frank, who I had also performed with in Acme Theatr's 1996 production of McBeth (yes they spelled it that way) at Aerosmith's Mama Kin club. Despite being one of the 'stars' Ad always treated me very well and I have fond memories of those performances so now that I've found it here I wanted to share Ad's music with my little group of iLIke friends. Also check out the music of Bim Skala Bim, America's best ska band, whose bassist Mark played during many Acme productions and who for 10 years filled the role of best housemate I've ever had."

"Teenagers do crazy things. http://www.savefile.com/files/1550292 When I was one, we used to gather and listen to loud music while consuming illegally acquired alcoholic beverages as a kind of warm up for going out to clubs to do the same thing. This song was a personal fave of mine for this questionable activity."

"Last night 'The Simpsons' featured this song. http://www.savefile.com/files/1540708 And they satirized the Sundance film festival with guest star Jim Jarmusch. Still the best show on TV after all these years. This has been a Chalmskinn production."

"Saw 'A Scanner Darkly' today. http://www.savefile.com/files/1514469 Not enough space here to review it, but the chorus of this song which plays over the end titles describes the film well enough."

"Another from 1992. http://www.savefile.com/files/1509898 Depending on your perspective, potentially depressing, but I think ultimately it's a song of hope with an "it's not too late" message that at some point in life pretty much everyone needs to hear."

"Another from 1992. http://www.savefile.com/files/1502381 Please indulge me for a moment. This song is special to me because on my 30th birthday in 1995 I was driving from NY to MA in a steady rain with "Automatic for the People" in the stereo. As my car hydroplaned on I84 in CT my last conscious thought was "oh no." When I regained consciousness I had trouble breathing and was unable to move so I sat in the median in my crushed silver Acura hearing the sirens of approaching emergency vehicles while my car stereo serenaded me with this song. Listen to the words. Makes you think. In case you're still reading, I was told later that an 18 wheeler had t-boned me. I had some cuts and a few broken ribs but was otherwise fine, except for the total loss of my car which somehow continued to play this song until the EMT arrived and turned off the ignition."

"Surprised to find iLike doesn't have a snippet of this, so here it is.
http://www.savefile.com/files/1501075 A fave of mine from 1992, I've been listening to a lot of music from that year recently so prepare to receive more recs from my 27th year on earth in the coming days.

"The next time it's late at night and you're walking alone down a foggy street, your mind racing with confusion and anger over a friend stealing your lover, be sure to bring this song with you."

"http://www.savefile.com/files/1490237 While I bow reverently at the altar of Jude's good ear, I cannot let his 2nd choice for the letter O go undistributed. Since they were number 2, the zip file contains 2 songs, this plus "The Circus Animals.""

"I know that I don't do enough to help save the environment. http://www.savefile.com/files/1488596 But every day when I pick up the empty cigarette packs and fast food soda cups from my front lawn, I know I'm doing more than the people who threw them there. They should all be forced to listen to this song 24/7/365."

"O, Canada. You're so much more than just a place to dodge the draft. First I see a luscious HD hour long flight over beautiful British Columbia, then I hear this song. It may be time to emigrate."

"http://www.savefile.com/files/1478085 One of my favorite things about one of my favorite bands is their many b-sides. I spent far too much time and money scouring the racks of Newbury Comics, Strawberries and Tower for U2's cd-singles. I was disappointed but not surprised when they later released many of them on full length cd's such "The Best of 1980-1990/The B-sides." This one is from 1997, b-side to the "Discoteque" single. Enjoy!

"This song evokes in me a tiny version of that tingling, bursting lightness that comes from newfound love. Even a tiny version of that is a nice thing every once in a while. Hopefully all of us have some songs that do that."

"Another cover for the cover lover"
"I often enjoy hearing the interpretation of a band covering a song I wouldn't expect, and this is one of those."

"GLB made so many good songs, this is one of my faves. I especially enjoy the languid quality of the verses."

You're welcome! Glad you like them :) I didn't have that scene running through my head while listening to the song before, but now that you've mentioned it, I can see why it's there for you.

Unfortunately, we don't take "Patriot Day" off where I work. That's reserved for the local government. =)
