"They're like Grandaddy in that they just may elude commercial success for too effortlessly creating perfect melodic pop with an instinctive knack for making the very distant seem very near. And this version here isn't even the flawlessly produced piano-laced album studio version."
"It's like Pink Floyd meeting Pet Shop Boys backstage at the opera and immediately recording a live album right then and there. Some of the songs on this album even sound like Sparks. Genius/Bonkers. Peter Saville is already designing the cover art."
"Amazing from start to end. All you need is a campfire and lots of stars."
"This is what I'm hoping Bananarama's next album will sound a bit like. Or the other way around. Either way it would be Bananababes or Sugarama I suppose. All good. And Sugababes doing a cover of 'I Heard a Rumour' would not only be a perfect background scene track for any reality design show, but quite possibly a top 10 world wide club hit. You heard it here first."
"This was one of the few MP songs that was written by Patrick O'Hearn - and listening to his first few solo albums you can really hear it. Would love for them to get back together for a proper album. "

"Brand new Lenka sounding all the bit like Kate Nash. A wonderful slice of hop-along pop."

"Really nice stuff - the full album sounds a bit of Air and a bit of Phoenix with some Beach Boys and ELO bits too. Those are all good bits to have. Cool video as well: http://www.ilike.com/artist/Pacific/videos/159234557"

"Brilliant song. With an even more brilliant video! http://www.ilike.com/artist/Dragonette/track/Take+It+Like+A+Man "
"What a stunning version. I almost thought it was Keren Ann when I first heard it. "
"These guys rock. And according to Wikipedia, The Avett Brothers have gone from relative unknowns to the poster children of a brand new and rapidly growing genre of American music, described by critics and fans as "indie roots", "folk-punk", or "grungegrass". Grungegrass?! Clever."

"An charmingly erratic and positively hands-in-the-air cover of the 1972 Donna Hightower song. Genius video as well - sort of 'X-files' meets 'Thriller'. http://www.ilike.com/artist/Sonny+J/track/Handsfree"
"Lush, with some bits that sound like "I'm not in love" from 10cc."
"Very beautiful cover of The Flaming Lips song."
"She reminds me of Robbie Williams. Would love to hear them in a duet."
"Cheers to Wilco for sending me this song. "

"The third single from Act's debut (and only) album - featuring Claudia Brucken from Propaganda with Thomas Leer. The entire album, along with bsides and remixes was recently remastered and released as a special package CD. "
"My favorite song from Hefner - singer Darren Hayman has since done solo work and released music as 'The French'. Good stuff."
"Apparently these guys put on an unbelievable live show! Missed them when they came to Portland - eagerly awaiting a second album."
"One of the brilliant tracks from an otherwise lackluster recent album. But they released it with tons of remixes including a slow AND a fast radio edit - so they get bonus points for that."
"Great track from an even greater album - and they have a new release this coming October."

Jul 23, 2008

"One of the few full length albums that I consider to be a "lost on a desert island and you can only have 5 cd's with you forever" type of release. And she was only 19 when she recorded it. "
"Stunning song. Maybe only better if there was a slight, subtle electronic-tinged remix as well. A radio remix of course - under 4 minutes. Otherwise, flawless."
"When good b-sides go brilliant."

"Amazing version of Yesterday. The Beatles would be proud."

Jul 11, 2008

"Really nice solo work from Erlend, who's also part of, and/or, associated with the bands 'Kings of Convenience', 'The Whitest Boy Alive' and Röyksopp'."
"New single from Maarten - produced by Jason Lytle of Grandaddy. Yay!"
"Great song! The Indelicates formed in late-2005, six months after Julia Clark-Lowes left her former band, The Pipettes."
"Not just a great song - but it was the theme to a TV show by the same name, AND released as a 7 minute extended version for the soundtrack to 'Meatballs'! What more could a song want? A top 5 hit for David even though it was actually written by Perren and Fekaris, the team responsible for Gloria Gaynor's 'I will survive'. When David wasn't singing he was starring in movies like 'An American Werewolf in London' - which unfortunately didn't include a 7 minute extended version of anything."
