There really do. They did some great things on that album. I'm hoping they get some press. Ames, Iowa... Who would've thunk?

I love Yo La Tengo as much as the next person. But I don't know them well enough. I'll leave them to those who know them better. =) I loved Fire*Eater. And since I heard the familiar clang of 'We've Been Had' on a Saturn TV spot years ago, The Walkmen have been on heavy rotation ever since. Throw in Wedding Present and Weakerthans to make the decision even harder.

My man, I would totally agree with those pics. I love old Police, and Dino Jr are legends, especially around these here parts. Stay tuned. I'll be doing singles after I get through bands.

You could do worse than "Set Yourself On Fire." The new one, "In Our Bedroom After The War," is pretty fine too. For my money, there's a definite progression in the albums, so it won't hurt to hear them in order. That said, "Nightsongs," their first, is good but also their worst album. As such, though, it is probably a fine place to visit to understand the progression. But you may not want to buy it. If you'd like, I could send it to you via mediafire or pando. Let me know. Glad you're digging "Heart." I still love to hear "Look Up" and "Elevator Love Letter" when they come up in my shuffle.

Frank Allison released his first new album in 10 years, Log Rhythms of Love! It's available on iTunes, cdbaby, or his site, frankallisonmusic.com! Typical Frank, great melodies (hard to get outta yer head!) and quirky, fun lyrics! Check it out! Roy

Shame on you for not giving The Rentals the time of day! But I'll give you this pass, just this once...know why? You found the Rotary Downs! Our sweet little gem down here in the Crescent City. Those guys deserve all the recognition they can get. Stay cool! ;-p

ha. that's like asking me which vacation I'd like more: African Safari, Deep-sea diving in the Great Barrier Reef or exploring Tokyo. If I had to choose, I'd put them in this order: Alligator, Boxer, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers and self-titled.

P.S. On the subject of Dino Jr: my friends and I were making fun of all the pussies with earplugs in when the show started... But, after spending the entire show with our tummies nearly touching the stage, we decided that we wished we'd been 'pussies,' too. [But, man... What a time! Awesome Color opened, and they were fantastic as well. I haven't been to a true-to-form rock&roll show like that in... two years, probably - not since I went on a houseshow-hopping bender. Geeeeez, SO much fun. *sigh*]

Dude, I don't know why I never asked, but... is that a dog in a cone? And why in God's name do you identify with it? You have some kind of weird skin disease? Hilarious! Oh, and one need never apologize for Esquivel. Los Cuatro Amigos en el Espacio maybe, but never Esquivel.

That's hilarious. I wouldn't doubt it at all. My friend in Cincy told me her free download of the day from 'Bucks was Band of Horses' 'No One's Gonna Love You' a couple weeks after the album came out. Seattle companies, eh?

i really, really enjoyed the movie! i'd put it in the romantic comedy category for sure but it was one of the better movies i've seen in a long, long time. definitely worth a trip to see in my opinion, but i'm also a big steve carrell fan. :)

Hey Frank is selling shirts on his frankallison.com site! A typically cool original Frank drawing of a Mosquito, the Michigan State Bird, is on it. He's fairly close to releasing his cd. Keep an ear out for it! He's also got a new free mp3 for download and two recent newspaper articles on him posted there. Check it out! :-) Roy

I'm totally with you on the Feelies! Loved that band and not only their songs but the covers of Velvet Undergound (what goes on) and Beatles (everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey) were great. I think my favorite from the album you pulled the recommended song from is Decide. "spread all the love, yeah , that you find".

I have to agree with you on Tom Morello's voice, but that's the only thing I can complain about on his Nightwatchman album. It's great to see someone with an intelligent point of view not be afraid to make himself heard.

I read yours too. My son (not much of a kid anymore at 18) also loves M. Ward. And I echo your take on Jon Brion. I've had the good fortune to see him at Largo, a very small nightclub here in LA where he programs all the Friday night shows and frequently takes the stage himself. His show is amazing! Especially the incredible array of bizarre keyboards he sports. Thanks for the props.
