Thanks for the add! I'm doing alright - missing the west coast now that autumn is starting to arrive here on the east coast. You've got loads of stuff I've not heard before, looking forward to trying some of it out.

"i am in absolute love with this song. it's a little melody that is so simple but so gorgeous. the canon chills me bones so sweetly. i saw ingrid perform it live with allie moss, jessie baylin and kate havnevik and tried my best to keep the melody in my head for the rest of the night. give it a listen, please."

"hey my music loving friends. here's a little song for you. it's an oldie but definitely a goody. this was a song i loved to belt out with my friend sally in the car so many years ago. great memories with this song. i'd like to belt it out with you guys now. so take in a deep breath, throw out your hesitations. you don't need to be a song bird here. and LET'S SING!! a very happy new years greeting to you all. "

"if you take a glimpse at my recently played list, you'll discover that i am on a Travis kick. i saw them live last night for the first tiime, and i was completely blown away. it was a FANTASTIC show. taking a break from their usual mellow rock sounds, i thought i'd recommend something from their debut album Good Feeling. great performance in the live show. moody and driving. makes you want to spend the day listening to old familiar rock songs, jumping on your couch and giving an outstanding air guitar solo for your dog (or cat)."

"this song tackles the more serious subject of cutting. i once stumbled upon a cutter group on livejournal and read some of the posts. the reasons why some do cut seem strangely legitimate and familiar. people deal with things in different ways, i guess. while i've never been into cutting, i think i can understand some of the frustrations the cutter in this song is experience in trying to quit his/her "bad habit." and in spite of all this ramble, the song is awesome. so give it a listen."

"a very cool, jazzy version. it's....different. even moreso from cake's version. lovely femme vocals with great harmonies. if angels were to bust out gloria gaynor at saturday night karaoke, it might sound something like this. haha. angels and karaoke. that's a thought."

"The Breeders are mostly known for their single "Cannonball" from the mid-90s, but this is the track I'm more familiar with. Back in the day, my friend Sally made fantastic mix tapes. She was a genius. Always great mixes. When making playlists and mix cds for friends now, I strive to meet the standard set by Sally. But I digress, Sally put this song on one mix tape she made for me. I was taken by the simple repetitive melody and the really folky string-picking orchestration. It's downright catchy. The lyrics are pretty short and sweet, giving me all sorts of visuals of driving on a lonely road, passing the Norman Bates motel, and getting into some trouble in Vegas. I don't even know where the 9 interstate runs. But i want to sing this song while driving down it."

"this past week, i couldn't get enough of this song and it's single counterpart "Kiss & Cry". it's a solid new track from hikki, and strangely familiar at the same time. i'll probably be playing it for another week. maybe then i'll get my fill and move on."

Jul 14, 2007

"this track is definitely Psycho le Cemu rockin' out. killer bass by seek. i can re-energize easily with this song. if you have a 'to the task" playlist, you should add Justice."

Jun 11, 2007

"i am infatuated with this british children's program Charlie & Lola. this is the opening theme song. perfectly crafted for this playful and charming show."

May 11, 2007

"my fave japanese pop artist. it's hard to recommend just one UA song. however, as iLike sadly does not recognize almost all of her songs with japanese character titles, i'm forced to choose from a very limited pool of UA songs that actually show. and this song just so happened to make it into the pool. this song is absolutely gorgeous. army of strings drone and drive, some funny sounding electronic blurps dinks chime in tune, and UA's vocals float freely over it all. it all comes together quite lovely-like. and this description doesn't do it justice."
"i am an X-File geek. so any song that makes a reference to the notorious duo of mulder and scully is a winner in my book. this song is awesome even without the ref, but while it's whining about wanting to be with someone, it lets the spooky pair slip into the chorus. cheers!!"

"this cover of The Knife song is absolutely fantastic. It's a whole different animal, more submissive and smooth. It might be easier to swallow for the tender-ears. check out the music video/sony advert on youtube. "

"tom lehrer. my professor introduced this guy to me. mr. lehrer is a singer-songwriter whose songs are witty and satirical. this is one of the supremely fun songs. so take a break from trying to explain "great music" and laugh along with mr. lehrer. "

Jan 17, 2007

"one of my favourite Bright Eyes tracks. melancholy commentary on personal and political matters. and cheers for accompanying vocals by emmylou harris."

Jan 06, 2007

"I realize this song does not have a sample, but I'm going to recommend it anyway, because it's a great song. This song is definitely not for the emo kid who wants to wallow in their sorrows. It's very upbeat and gives you the ultimate "nothing can stop me now" feeling. well, maybe not the ultimate, but it's damn close too it."

Dec 10, 2006

"cheers for Killer Queen! i think this was the song that forced me to go out and buy Queen's greatest hits I & II. very playful and sassy. check out the video as well. freddie primping it up in his fur coat. and don't brian may and john deacon look snazzy in their jackets? "

""one of my dad's faves. and admittedly, one of mine. ms. ronstadt has a nice set of pipes. she rocks my little boat out on blue bayou.""
"oh! how her voice makes me melt melt melt. i'm a puddle of me every time."

Nov 21, 2006

"okay, so today in lab, i heard the new fergie song on the radio. "fergalicious." and i swore i had heard the song before. i had to dig deep into my childhood. as soon as i spat out "the S is for super..." immediately it all came back to me. Elem school with my friends, singing, flowing, and dancing in the yard. another purchase from iTunes for me. don't even listen to that rip-off fergie. you want the genuine goods. J.J. Fad's "Supersonic.""

Nov 08, 2006

"we all know immi is capable of layering countless synthesized beats and ditties into a fleshy piece of electronic pop. this song is stark in comparison, but she still manages to layer her vocals just as intricately. a capella for the electronica. gorgeous for the haunting."

Nov 06, 2006

"one of those cheesy adult contemporary songs. but c'mon! it's Glory of Love!! this is one song you definitely have to belt out with friends. drunk or sober. i works both ways. it's just -that- awesome!"
"this song makes me tear up everytime. it's melancholic and gorgeous. tulei is a cousin of mine, and he's got a lot of talent. i swiped this track from his myspace. and i urge you to do the same! http://www.myspace.com/tulei "
"the album version of this song is great. but this (video) version from the single release is so wet with sensuality, you're bound to orgasm."
"the acoustic version. like a lullabye. jasmine's vocals still soothing and seductive. and the guys' guitars remain as lush as in the orginal track. (that bass gets me everytime.)"
"interested in japanese punk? The Blue Hearts are well established at a japanese punk band. 'Linda Linda' is a simple song, but it's infectious, fierce, and doesn't disappoint. "
"a great little pop rock song. simple little riff. clever little lyrics. "
"the irresistable leroy brown. loaded with attitude for your delight."
