http://www.mediafire.com/?mnzzdlzrnjm | I love "I love you airlines." They are fiery. They are grind-it-out. They play and sing with a femme fury - a touch of Karen Oh, if she were more focussed. They have two EPs available on iTunes for a whopping $3.96 each. Enjoy.

Okkervil River - Unless It's Kicks

http://tinyurl.com/6dwwha | Katie and I are getting ready to go see Cinemocracy tonight (http://tinyurl.com/6gqr2y). Which seems to be for many people about the films, but for us is about Okkervil River and Apples in Stereo headlining a decent little line-up. Yes, the Red Rocks concert listing misspelled Okkervil. Should be a good time for us as we haven't been out too much, what with keeping on top of our individual freelance, starting our own business, and working, playing and living together.

The Walkmen - Stop Talking

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=8b8592af65492943d2db6fb9a8902bda | It's funny, living with Katie has given me brand new insight into how her creative mind works. We share an office space, listen to the same combined library of music, have three squares a day, walk the dogs together, and on and on and on. But what's incredibly entertaining for me is when she recs a song here. She'll listen a few times in a row, then all must be silent. I get "shushed" if I try to talk to her. There is no music playing. And she started writing about a song maybe ten minutes ago. I'll hear little peeps from her every now and then, but for the most part, she focusses on the song and the words like nothing I've seen. I should probably go give her a hug now. If I'm permitted. She might be too engulfed in what she's writing. PS - The song in itself is a majestic, soothing little lullaby. And if you read the latest session of French Kicks on Daytrotter (thanks Jess,) Sean eloquently puts to words why I adore the Walkmen so much.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy - You Want That Picture

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=8b8592af65492943d2db6fb9a8902bda | I can't believe Will Oldham is age. Spanning multiple genres and avoiding any form of labeling, Will caught my attention with New Partner with his Palace project and gone on to continue to reinvent himself. This track is a sad, soulful number that I will now use to let you know that we have posted new pictures on flickr to show you the scenery surrounding my new digs. More frequent picture postings to come.

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=8b8592af65492943d2db6fb9a8902bda | This song (and a post) is a long time coming. I've been busy as hell, moving, meeting the parents, trying to get (and maintain) freelance work, etc. Swapping new dreams for old, you might say. The track itself is poppy but fun. I love anyone who belts their vocals.

I might be online every now and then, but I have three days of work, packing, preparing and my last loads of laundry to do before Thursday when K-K-K-Katie gets in. Then, we load the truck and set off to the mountains to start the next chapter of our lives. Together. Take care peeps. Wish us luck and a safe travel if you'd like.

A House - My Little Lighthouse

http://www.mediafire.com/?3wstzwblaxg | Leaving the shore of lighthouses and harbors is a bit hard. I do love Boston. But all I need to remember is why. At the other end (about a week from today) is a lighthouse that is taller and burns brighter than anything I could've ever imagined. She is truly more than I could've ever wanted in another person. "You give me inspiration / You give me love / My little lighthouse / And the brilliant things that you do / I think I could like you / Yes, we could walk for awhile / Or simple talk for awhile / We could watch a video show / Or catch a picture show, don't you know / We could shower, put on a change of clothes / And go where everyone goes / We could stay in, Get a cheap bottle of wine and dine / We could go where the wind blows o'er your hair / As it blows, watch it show the sky, the sky is much darker now / But you wouldn't like that, no, you wouldn't like that / And if I could see out, I wouldn't have to shout / There's no need to pout / We could take a weekend away / Do holiday things, get drunk and fall down / And don't ask for reasons you hold / Got a heart made of gold / get things done as they're told / So let me tell you now there's no silver line / There's those that don't want to see / And the story so far rings like a shotgun in your hand / Cos you give me inspiration / You give me love / My little lighthouse / And the brilliant things that you do / I think I could like you.

Lavender Diamond - Open Your Heart

http://www.mediafire.com/?njz2txrnxgo | I believe the review on Becky Stark's voice called it "honey-dripped." An accurate description as this young lady's vox moves you with a Stars-esque tune set in the background. Released by indie pop powerhouse Matador, the sweet chorus of songs on Lavender Diamond's 2007 full-length LP will make you weak in the knees - a feeling I'm becoming all-to familiar with.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ddeimnmz4fm | So in two weeks, I'm shipping out from the amazing city of Boston to join Kate in Winter Park, CO. She is flying back to help load a truck and ship drive cross-country with me. It's the opposite of what I know and am used to. But it's the best move I'll have ever made. So "Give me your eyes, I need sunshine / Your blood / Your bones / Your voice / and your ghost / We've both been very brave / Walk around with both legs / Fight the scary day / We both pull the tricks out of our sleeves / but I'll believe in anything / and you'll believe in anything"

Adorable - Breathless

http://www.mediafire.com/?tgxqyjwxyny | In 30 hours, Kate's going to be here. And we will be, um, MIA for awhile. Not that any of you will miss us. And this song, well, it's actually, in this man's opinion, the best, simplest love song out there. It's not soft or lulling. It's not a lullaby. It screams from the mountain tops. It's passionate. It's simple. It's charged. It's how I feel. "My eager eyes came stumbling down
Over this pristine view / My second-rate poetry Just is not enough to describe you / I'm scrambling 'round the floor Looking for some fresh metaphor / All the words to describe this just do not exist, I feel better than ever before / I'm breathless and speechless, But still, there is so much to say / In words with one syllable / I love you." See you in a week.

Electric Penguins - Soft Landing

http://www.mediafire.com/?xjln2jzbujo | What would a trip to Boston without a trip to the New England Aquarium to see not one, not two, but three different kinds of penguins. Sure, there are all kinds of other sealife this wonderful place has to offer, but this is the one that makes her the happiest. And that's what is important to me - her happiness. This delightful little song by a group of Electric Penguins puts a smile on my face just thinking about it - seeing her adoring these awkward little birds, a giant smile plastered across her face, that's what's most important.

The National - The Geese Of Beverly Road

http://www.mediafire.com/?zj3roez0odi | I was walking to an appointment early this morning, taking a more scenic route down Charles St. The Duck Tour was in full swing down, it's occupants taking in the history and quaintness.

Then I walked through the Public Garden
(http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=boston+public+garden&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title)
letting the sweet scent of flowers filled my nose. So many birds from swans to ducks to swallows were out feeding and frolicking. The tourists voices were actually hushed, taking it all in. The swan boats were paddling quietly across the pond. Then up to Newbury St. past the shops nestled into the old architecture. It was about a 20 minute walk to and from Beacon Hill. All I wanted was to share it with her. I do like Boston, and I am so happy we'll get this time to spend exploring it together before we run like we're awesome, totally genius.

http://www.mediafire.com/?vtj1dvygrwf | Bongos, wooing, swinging elation. A foggy feeling of self-doubt that's been lifted away. The light, pure lyrics alone are enough to lift me. But before, it was an envious position I took. Now, all day afternoon, I love ya's. All day afternoon, let sun shine down. All day afternoon, taking things as the come and then so gently watching them go.

http://www.mediafire.com/?jle0nksy4qm | Something else to look forward to: The 4th of July in Boston. Kate's a big fan of the celebration. And what better way to experience it than a blanket, some wine, food from street vendors, the Boston Pops, and explosions in the sky (not the band.) All set along the scenic Charles River, within a few minutes walking of our apartment. What a perfect way to spend a Friday night. It'll be a night to remember.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ixtzdoyxy8g | Ah. The 80s. Kate and I never got to have prom together. And while our week should be action-packed, one of the things I'm looking forward to most is staying in with her. Well, "staying in." Since we didn't get to live that ridiculousness together, we're taking our ridiculousness now and going back in time: high school date night. We're going to see a movie, get cheap food, then having a dance in the apartment; complete with streamers, the alternative pop music that shaped the times, wine coolers we will chug at at the park next door, and, more than likely, a make-out session. I have never met anyone so amazing as her. You may now proceed to throw up. "

http://www.mediafire.com/?0jwi1ch1vkj | So the countdown until Kate gets here for extended holiday is coming to a close. A week from now, the Colorado Snowbird will have my hand in hers and we'll be walking down Newbury Street, or through the Common, or down Charles oblivious to everything around us, a few hours from seeing Frightened Rabbit at TT's. We have a week of things planned, from a prom date night, to the Boston Pops and fireworks, to the aquarium (penguins) to a duck tour. The list is long, and this might be one of the last times we're in Boston. Seeing as I've moving to Colorado in a couple months.

South - Better Things

http://www.mediafire.com/?dytmnvmj8iw | South is one of the most underrated bands out there right now. Yes, they've had some label and media difficulties which have slowed down what should've been a skyrocket shot. So this little gem of a band has jumped from label to label, tweeking their sound with each album, but never losing their soul. Their latest, "You Are Here," was released in April by Bluhammock Records. I haven't listened as much as I'd like to. In fact, I probably don't listen to South as much as I'd like to. But I will say this: each time I do, I wish I had. They move through songs with a sweet, insightful touch that leaves me wanting more. I've gone so far as to put this song on a very special mix for a little snowbird.
